Katie Weeres,
Certified Nurse-Midwife

Katie brings a unique and complimentary combination of education and experience to Minnesota Women's Care. After completing her bachelor’s degree in elementary education, Katie went on to earn her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology. She changed trajectory after the birth of her first child and began her education in nursing, earning both a Master of Nursing degree and a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree with specialization as a Certified Nurse Midwife.

This distinct blend of training and practice allows her to use a multidisciplinary approach to better assess, understand and guide her patients throughout their healthcare journey. Through meaningful conversation, she excels at recognizing the goals and desires of her patients, helping them understand their current state of health or condition, and providing evidence-based information and expert guidance to assist them in navigating their many choices.  We're delighted to have her on our team.

About her philosophy of care, Katie says:

"The common theme found throughout my winding path to midwifery is the desire to have an impact on families, whether through educating, counseling or providing healthcare. In my role as a Certified Nurse Midwife, I have found an incredible combination of all three! I am thrilled to be able to help people with both their physical and mental health, as they are so often intertwined. I love being able to provide patient-centered, individualized care to women from all backgrounds and during all the phases of their life. It's incredibly rewarding to help people understand the ‘why’ behind the ‘what’ they are experiencing and assist them in making a plan that will improve their wellbeing, whatever that looks like for them."

Outside the clinic:

When Katie isn't at the office or catching a baby, her family keeps her busy! She lives with her husband, three young children and their two standard poodles. Between school functions, sports, and other extracurricular activities, most of her free time is spent with her small humans. When she gets some alone time, she enjoys reading/listening to books, puzzling (jigsaw, sudoku, mahjong), crocheting, and generally just enjoying a silent house!
